London producer and vocalist Baybee T has spent more than a decade recording producer tags, bringing a distinctly British voice to a format long dominated by American accents.
Her work has reached some unusually large records. Baybee’s tags include Scott Storch on Roddy Ricch’s “Down Below” and Andre Vibez on Rema and Selena Gomez’s “Calm Down,” alongside work for producers including Swiff D, Bizness Boi and Cha Cha Malone.
Being a producer herself shapes the way she approaches the microphone. Baybee is already thinking about the beat around the voice: when the phrase should land, how much room it needs and what will happen once it is processed. The British accent gives the result its identity, but it is the producer behind it that makes the tag feel like part of the record.
