Chelsea Davis is behind a producer tag heard at the opening of one of the defining rap records of the 2010s. Her tag for British producer Menace appears on Desiigner’s “Panda,” the breakout single that reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2016.
Based in Florida, Chelsea has spent years recording producer tags alongside DJ drops, radio drops and intros, moving easily between the different ways a voice can introduce a record, a mix or a name.
That range is central to her sound. A short, clipped delivery can become part of a hard rap record; something smoother can sit naturally in a DJ set or radio mix. In either case, Chelsea’s work is built around the same challenge: making a voice recognisable before the listener has much time to think about it.
